Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover: Great for Removing Mascara
The product
It comes in a transparent bottle, with a large C, on the front. Beneath it is Clinique and the product's name in white. The cap of the bottle is their signature pale green. It is a very pretty color.
Upon opening the bottle, the liquid has a very slight smell of astringent. It is not unpleasant though. It is extremely runny, so try to avoid using too much, and wasting it. If I use it with a cotton ball, I take about a quarter of the ball, put it on the top of the bottle, turn it up, and then pour a little makeup remover on to it. I then put the rest of the ball around it, so I don't get any of the liquid on my fingers. If for any reason, you get too much on your cotton ball, it is greasy to the touch.
I often use a Kleenex tissue, and fold it several times. I tip the bottle up, and just pour enough to cover a square inch of the tissue. Again I can fold it, so I am not actually touching the remover.
Does it work
Yes, I find it to be an excellent product. I use eye shadow, mascara, and sometimes lipstick. My main problem is always my eyelashes. I tend to wear a couple of coats of black mascara, and some cleansers only attempt to do the job. I close my eyes and wipe the lids and lashes, and the color just comes away. It is that simple. However, if you use too much of the remover, you will feel oily or greasy. This is the only downfall I have found with the Clinique product.
At the end of the day, most of my lipstick has gone but I have tried it on my lips, and again it did a great job. When I put my lips together after using it, it was as if I had just applied lip balm to them. I blotted them with the rest of my Kleenex, and then they changed from oily to dry. I had to apply a moisturizer to my lips to return them to normal.
From the Clinique web-site
"Totally tugless, two-way formula speeds the departure of hard-to-remove eye and lip makeups. Even waterproof mascara. Safe for contact lens wearers."
