The evening was here,

And my sweet daughter dear,

Decided to snoop under the tree,

To see what she could see.

But to her great dismay,

A large black spider crept her way,

She screamed and jumped up,

And tipped her drink cup.

The spider crept forward,

All the while coming toward,

My sweet daughter dear,

Which enhanced her great fear.

The moral of this story,

Is to not let yourself worry,

About what is under the Christmas tree,

Because there is no telling what that might be.

Ooh! Not exactly what she expected to find! I totally agree with your daughter about spiders. Something similar happened to me in my garden: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/394318/a_surprise_attack_a_tale_in_rhyme_of.html

What a cool way the tell the little ones that they'll just have to wait and see. Cute poem Marsha, Merry Christmas.
