First, decide what you want to sell. Focus on niche products. It will do no good to start a free online store if you sell goods that are easily available online or in stores. Instead, start a free online store that sells something original. Locally crafted items, rare imports, and supplies for obscure hobbies or trades can all be sold by using PayPal when you start a free online store. Search the Internet for products that have little competition.
Second, start a PayPal account. By using PayPal, you can set up a merchant account that allows you to accept credit card payments. Also, by using PayPal instead of another merchant account service, you save yourself a lot of processing fees. (After all, you want to start a free online store, right?) By using PayPal, you simply send a small percentage of each transaction to PayPal as payment for the service. There is no up front fee.
Third, seek out a web hosting service that offers free or low-cost hosting. Call their customer support number and tell them you wish to start a free online store by using PayPal. Ask them if their free hosting allows such websites, or if they have a low-cost service. To start a free online store, you will want to avoid expensive hosting fees, at least until you make money to justify more.
Next, create your website by using PayPal "Buy Now" buttons and photographs of your products. Save your photographs as 72dpi JPEG files. By using PayPal user documentation, such as the free PDF merchant guide they offer to customers, you can create custom Buy buttons. PayPal will handle all shopping-cart services, including calculation of local sales tax and shipping costs, if applicable. With these free services, you can start a free online store quite easily. When you finish, upload your files to your hosting service and do some testing.
