Alton Brown's Good Eats on the Food Network is the Best Science Show on Television

Yes, I know that Good Eats is a cooking show on the Food Network, and yes it’s true that on any given day the food that host Alton Brown shows you how to make will wind up being the only food created on any show that day that actually looks appetizing, but I stand by my title. Good Eats is the best science show on television. In fact, it’s one of the best shows on television, period. Faint praise, I know, but there it is.

Host Alton Brown turns Good Eats into something more than you average cooking show. If you want to learn the science behind why you should wait until a pan heats up before actually placing a piece of chicken into it, then this is the show to watch. Rachael Ray won’t give you that kind of information. (And what is the that superfluous vowel in her first name? What is up with that? Rachael Ray’s name looks like a typo.)

And don't forget to always use kosher salt!
