If you were ever to make a chart of the bad things that could happen to your computer, where would you place the loss of important mail client massages and your instant messenger's contacts? "But why do you think any of those things will happen?" you will probably ask. In fact it is not a "Why" question, but rather a "When?"

Let us just very briefly imagine the following. One fine day you return from vacation to find out that there was a power surge in your energy grid which resulted in the power supply unit of your computer burning up and causing the bridge on the motherboard to burn up too, which then spread to the video card, and the memory card, and the hard drive. Even if your computer is protected by UPS, there is still no guarantee that something like this will not happen at some point in time.

While the loss of your hardware is a tragic event by itself, additionally you may lose your entire data including your mail contacts and instant messenger contacts. You should clearly understand that losing mail contacts means losing contact with people who you love and cherish and want to keep in touch with.

After all, is it really worth taking a risk, or is it worth buying a backup program whose price is only a fraction of what your entire hardware and software is worth, not to mention the cost of your lost data?

When you select a backup program for doing backup of your mail and instant messages, make sure you pick the most cost-effective solution. It may sound boring, but you may as well do a little research to study the backup software market and figure out which backup program best satisfies your needs.

Since you are going to back up mail clients and mail messages, you should make sure that such functionality is available in the backup program that you are planning to buy. Some programs offer this functionality for the price you pay, while others may require the installation of additional paid plug-ins to help you do the job of mail backup. So you need to clear this up before you buy.
