One of the best television shows ever finally came to DVD a couple of years ago. The Muppet Show is now available on DVD. I loved the Muppet Show growing up although I have to admit that I'm too young to know some of the guest stars in the early seasons. Fortunately the Muppets themselves have always been the star of the show, not the guest stars.

The Muppets' skits are far better than the human skits and perhaps the best part of the Muppet Show is the re-occurring skits. These are the best re-occurring skits on The Muppet Show.

7. Veterinarian's Hospital
Veterinarian's Hospital was a parody of the soap opera General Hospital. The head doctor was Dr. Bob, played by Rowlf and he often makes jokes about other animals. Another running joke in this skit was that each episode would end with a voice telling the audience what is going to happen next week and Rowlf, Piggy and the others would look around trying to find where the voice is coming from.

6. Muppet News Flash
The Muppet News Flash had your typical news station setting with a Muppet that looked much like a news reporter of that time. Sometimes Muppet News Flash was really good but other times it was pretty corny. It was very hit and miss.

5. At the Dance
In this skit Muppets paired off and danced and as the camera focused on a different pair they would tell some kind of joke. Originally Miss Piggy was in this skit and it gets negative points for that but for the most part this was a funny skit.

4. Fozzie's Act
Fozzie's Act was probably one of the most famous skits from the Muppet Show. Fozzie would come out on stage and tell a really bad joke. Then Fozzie would normally be heckled by Waldorf and Statler and they would get the best of Fozzie.

3. Muppet Labs
The Muppet Labs is where Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker did all of their experiments. I was never too impressed with the different experiments going on in the lab but Beaker was always hilarious.

2. Pigs In Space
Miss Piggy is one of my least favorite Muppet characters but Pigs in Space was good despite Miss Piggy. The Pigs in Space skit was a parody of Star Trek and shows like that and like the Veterinarian's Hospital had a voice telling what would happen next week.

I totally agree with the Swedish chef being the first and Pigs and Space being on the list. Funnily enough, as I was reading this article, I've also been watching Craig Ferguson, and he said he was starting to look like Sam the Eagle and had a "comparison" with Sam being shown next to him!
