I remember as a child watching Saturday morning cartoons. I would seat there all morning from 7 or 8 until 12 or so. I would get my breakfast and just sit there with my eyes glued to the screen. I remember them all Scooby Doo Where are You?, The Flintstones, Land of the Lost, and of course Transformers.

With the new movie coming out soon I thought I would take a walk do memory lane and talk about the original show. It came out in 1984, when I was 14 years old. It was a series about a group of robots in search of a new source of fuel. Cybertron's, their home planet, fuel source was exhausted by the constant war between the Autobots and the Decepeticons. They battle across the universe until they reached Earth where they found themselves with plenty of fuel to fight over. The problem was the living creatures on the planet were caught in the middle of the conflict.

Each side had their own unique characters. The Autobots, which were cars, had Bumblebee who was a yellow VW bug and a real go getter always ready for action. There was also Ratchet, an ambulance, who was always there to patch them up if they got hurt. Jazz, a Porsche, with the heart and soul of a jazz man, he was always looking out for smaller autobots and the humans around him. Lastly there was Optimus Prime, a semi truck and trailer, he was the leader and carried within him the Matrix of leadship, which all their leaders carried.

The Decepticons were a bit more diverse then the autobots most were airplanes but some were not. For example, Soundwave was a micro tape player who had a arsenal of mini and deadly robots to help him fight the autobots. He had Rumble who was a small robot with a god complex. He used to say, "are you ready to rumble with rumble." Also he had a robot bird named called Buzzsaw. Most of the Decepticons were airplanes. Which, when you think about it, is kind of interesting. It was land vs. air.

It was not just the characters that made it good it was also the music. The music fit the show perfectly. I know most show have good music. What I mean is the robotic tones, keyboards, and voices in the opening song was brilliant. "Robots in disguise."
