So this other day I was meeting with a friend of mine. We had to cut it short though, because he was to be a groomsman at the wedding of his former step-brother.  Something just didn't seem right to me, and the more I've looked at it, there is nothing right with it! His mother has been married and divorced 3 times, and is looking for a husband now. His father is married to his second wife. My friend has had, in effect, 4 Dads, 2 Moms, and a multitude of siblings. but most of them are not his siblings anymore, because they aren't part of the family now, hence the ex-step-brother...STOP!

I'm not writing this to just appeal to your emotions, but honestly take a look around. Do you see the incredible hate, the sin, the sick existence this world flaunts as life? Yup, that very same one. Enough of pretend and 'let's make everyone happy'. Let's call a duck a duck...no matter how the feathers are painted. Divorce is wrong. Re-marriage is worse. If you're a Bible believing Christian (which I hope you are), then there's a Biblical basis for this. Believers are instructed to honor the covenant of marriage, by husbands loving their wives, and wives submitting to their husbands. But after destroying all sense of commitment and designed roles, now we go after the very covenant God has designed for a man and woman to reflect the relationship of Christ and His Church! We're clearly told in 1Corinthians 7 that in case of a separation, the couple is to remain single and not divorce. The only two options are to remain single or be reconciled. There's no getting around it, that's exactly what it says. I don't mean to be unsympathetic to remarried people, but I'd rather offend you and see you in heaven than sympathsize and see you perish.

If you're someone who's looking for some other point of view to show that divorce is wrong, how about this:

1. Children with divorced parents have a 58% greater chance of getting into chemical and drug addictions.
2. The same children also have a 92% greater chance of turning to crime if they don't have a father at home.
3. Divorcees have been shown to have a greater chance of suffering severe depression and mental disorders.

Takeaways
  • Divorce is NEVER a good idea!
  • Think of your children and yourself before making a hasty decision.
  • Consider faithful separation from your spouse if things are getting out of hand.
Did You Know?
The average wedding costs $27,000. The average divorce costs $700.

it can be scary. I worry what might happen to my children if I were to become a single parent one day, but you cannot always look at things in black and white. There are always gray areas that cannot be ignored.

This is a very one sided argument. You do not take in to account safety matters, such as abuses of any kind. Better to have a single parent raise a child than for the child (or parent, for that matter) to suffer at the hands of violence, whether physical, sexual, or verbal. What about relationships that cannot be healed? Spouses that no longer have love for each other can still live in the same household, sleep in the same bed, and participate in their childrens lives, but that does not mean the child will not suffer. Children are extremely observant and when they see the lack of intimacy between the parents (whether they realize they see it or not) it has an impact on how they interact with the rest of the world. Even when the best counseling in the world is applied, not all marriages can be returned to their former glory. Staying together for the benefit of the children can prove to be disastrous. I have seen your statistics and more applied to divorce and children, and yes, it

This is a good article, I am all for marriage! There are several sites for people standing for their marriage, while facing difficult times including divorce. I have found http://www.faithandmarriage.com/ and http://www.rejoiceministries.org/ to be great resourses. I belive one of the greatest stories of marriges in the bible is the story of Hosea and Gomer. Talk about forgiveness!
