Winter comes every year

Sometimes quietly while we sleep

Maybe soft flakes float to the ground

Or slam into your face and sting

Sticking to the windshield

Covering the streets

The lawn is gone

Tomorrow is when we have fun

Kids bundled and warm

Playing in the piles of fluff

Me? I huff and I puff

My back aches

My feet hurt when they thaw

The blisters weep and sting

What a shame we only have

Four more glorious months

Of this winter wonderland
