Charlie Wilson's War is a movie that might be exciting more people if it had another title. After all, who among us hasn't asked, upon hearing the Tom Hanks movie is based upon a true story, "who in the hell is Charlie Wilson?" Well, to answer that question from the beginning let's hop into Mr. Peabody's wayback machine and turned the dial to the first day of June in the year of our Lord, 1933. As you might have expected from a man who graduated near the bottom of his class at Annapolis, but who then went on to become a rah-rah cheerleader for covert wars, Charlie Wilson is a native of Texas. (What is it about Texas and rah-rah cheerleaders for covert operations?) The rest of Charlie Wilson's life is meaningless; the important thing for you and me is that voters in Texas deigned him the best choice to send him to the U.S. Congress as a Democrat. Another big surprise. I feel moved to say to the people of Texas what Gypsy once famously said to both Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot: "I don't get you."

For most of my life Charlie Wilson was my Congressman. I grew up in East Texas and I miss the good ole days when effective individuals like Charlie Wilson got the job done. Charlie liked to have a good time, as do most "real" individuals. I am proud that I played a part in sending him to Congress for as long as I could....I only wish he was still there. In reading the underlying article, I "love" how Texans and Charlie Wilson in particular are stereotyped and catergorized into fun loving war mongers. It is a shame the author chooses not to educate himself a little "deeper" into the larger picture, before spewing useless words and painting images that only serve to taint the work of a true American Patriot. Regardless of his political party or private life, Charlie got the job done. I have had the honor of meeting Mr. Wilson on numerous occasions and I am grateful for how he served his district and his country. If you would like to have seen it done differently, bounded by a more "moral

It will be interesting to see how the Reaganites that also support Bush (the "crazed 30%" I like to call them..) respond to the film..
