2008 Sundance Film Festival in Park City Utah

The Sundance Film Festival takes place January 17 through 27, 2008. The festival is held in Park City, Sundance and Salt Lake City, Utah annually, showcasing U.S. and international independent films. Approximately 80 dramatic and documentary feature length films are shown in nine different categories every year.

Robert Redford founded the Sundance Institute in 1981. The institute is dedicated to the development of artists and their independent vision. According to the Sundance website, the institute has grown into a resource for thousands of independent artists, including filmmakers, screenwriters, playwrights, composers an d theater artists. The institute values creative risk taking and discovery in film making.

Sundance Institute an announced that this year's line up of films were selected from a record number of submissions. This year 121 feature length films were selected from 3,624 submissions.
