Standing just 5' 2½" (1.59 m) tall, Christina Maria Aguilera is a signing powerhouse. Born December 18, 1980, Christina Aguilera has managed to have a stellar career, strong fan following and a line of awards, in a short time span.




Her debut self titled album released in 1999, gave her four hit singles and a Grammy for "Best New Artist" in February 2000. Two years later she released Stripped (2002), which was a financial success but Christina was criticized for promoting a sexual image for the success of the album. Same year, she won a Grammy for best collaboration with Lil' Kim, Mya, and Pink for song 'Lady Marmalade'. The Grammy’s didn’t stop there. In 2004 Christina Aguilera won the Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for song titled “Beautiful”.




Her four octave vocal range and ability to diversify her music has set Christina apart from Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson and others. The latter are know more for their celebrity status rather than their vocal talents.




Christina Aguilera’s voice talent has kept her painful past under wraps for the most of the time. Her father who was very controlling and sometimes abusive divorced her mother when was about 7. After the divorce she and her mother, Shelly, went to
Pittsburg
to live with her grandmother. Her mother later married paramedic Jim Kearns. She has a four siblings, half-brother Michael, step-brother Casey, younger sister Rachel and step-sister Stephanie.
