Bondrewards.com is a rewards or loyalty website with a twist. Instead of getting paid back for purchases, reading emails, etc. in dollars you get U.S. Savings Bonds as your reward. What a fantastic and unique idea Bond Rewards came up with.
As with other loyalty or often referred to as "get paid to" websites, you are rewarded for shopping, reading emails, doing surveys and accepting personalized offers. You are rewarded with points that they call "Bond Rewards". The number of "Bond Rewards" you receive depends on what you purchase.
To get started with BondRewards.com all you need to do is sign up. It is totally free to sign up. Once you are signed up take a few minutes to answer a few short surveys about yourself. You will be rewarded 16.5 Bond Rewards for just answering the surveys. This is a great start to get started by getting you a third of the way toward earning your first Savings Bond. After you answer the surveys just start shopping for the items you would normally buy and you earn even more. You will also have the chance to earn Bond Rewards by reading occasional emails that inform you of specials. The emails pay you .05 Bond Rewards for each one read.
The process is simple. When you want to make an online purchase simply go to the Bond Rewards website and log in. Do a search for what you want to buy and make the purchase. The percentage of the sale that is rewarded to you will be next to the store description. Take for instance if you like to shop at Zappos.com, at the time of this writing you will earn 20.4% of your purchase in Bond Rewards. So a $100 purchase will get you 20.4 Bond Rewards.
Once your Bond Rewards account reaches the 50 point mark you can redeem them for a $50 Series EE U.S. Savings Bond. Series EE Bonds are purchased at ½ the face value and can be held and earn interest until it has matured. Currently Series EE Bonds earn a fixed rate of 3%. You can decide to redeem your bonds right away if you wish but if you do so in the first 5 years you will forfeit your 3 most recent month's interest. If you hold them for longer than 5 years there is no penalty.
