There is no doubt that 2007 was the year of the Xbox 360. Microsoft's Big Green Machine had the killer app exclusives such as Halo 3, BioShock, and Mass Effect. All of these games were critically acclaimed from countless gamers (myself included). With that said, the future for the Xbox 360 might seem uncertain. There are some solid reasons for that lack of clarity. Although the Xbox 360 is dominating the United States market, Europe and Japan are two places where the Xbox 360 is still not selling well. The PS3 is selling at a much more alarming rate in Japan. Even though Microsoft has extended the warranty, the dreaded red ring of death is still a lingering flaw with the Xbox 360. These defective Xbox 360's might influence the longevity of the console. Furthermore, Microsoft is spending (or losing depending on how you want to look at it) over $ 1 Billion in attempting to rectify this glitch. I suppose the saying "what goes around comes around" fits well here. The worst news of all is that Microsoft is not retaining its exclusive game developing companies. Bungie, Bizarre, and BioWare will no longer be creating exclusive games for the Xbox 360 in the future. Gamers already know about EA buying BioWare. Electronic Arts will own the rights to Mass Effect in January 2008. If anyone reads between the lines, then it is fairly obvious that the entire Mass Effect trilogy could be on both the Sony PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Does this also mean other game developers will follow in BioWare's footsteps? It is possible that the Gears of War sequels could be ported to the PS3? It is almost a certainty and inevitable. Sony has lost its exclusives right to games like Devil May Cry 4, Dark Sector, and Grand Theft Auto 4. Now, those games will be multiconsole games available for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The loss of exclusive rights to the Mass Effect and Gears of War games could even give Sony an advantage in the console wars. For every dent Sony makes in the video game industry, there appears to be a counterattack from Microsoft and vice versa. True gamers could care less what console has what exclusives, and the only thing that matters is the quality of the games themselves. But this rivalry between Sony and Microsoft is like watching a brilliant sports game that goes back and forth between two opponents. The PlayStation 3 has Final Fantasy XIII, so Microsoft gets exclusive rights to Lost Odyssey. Microsoft solidifies exclusives rights to Ninja Gaiden 2; therefore, Sony retaliates by getting exclusive rights to God of War 3. Could the Xbox 360 be rendered useless with exclusives like Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Killzone 2, Final Fantasy XIII, and God of War 3 on the way? Is this the beginning of the end for Microsoft? Will game developers continue to forsake Microsoft? It is still too early to answer any of those questions, but Microsoft has to be sweating like Michael Jackson at a children's daycare.

There is nothing to correct because this entire article is not a press release from the creators of Gears. It is what I believe to be true. The main trend of this article was to anticipate the possible future of Microsoft and Sony. I thought that was already implied with the question mark in the title of this article, but it seems like that presumption of mine was incorrect. I thought it was self explanatory that Gears going multi console was my prediction. It goes without saying.

You're right, most of your article makes it known not all of the things you stated are fact, but you said a multiconsole Gears of War was inevitable, and that is what I am correcting you on, because it is not "inevitable".

How am I passing it off as a fact? Did you not read the number of question marks in this article? I never mentioned that Gears and Halo Wars was officially multi console. You are missing the main theme of this article. The point I was trying to make was that Microsoft might fall behind in the future to Sony because of the lack of exclusives.

You're passing opinion off as fact. If you are going to speculate that Gears of War 2 is coming to PS3, then go right ahead, but to say its inevitable, when no real evidence is shown is stupid. And Halo Wars is published by Microsoft and developed by a Microsoft company. There is no chance at all that it would ever come to a Sony system, regardless of any gut feeling you may have.

This is my opinion. I strongly believe that Gears will go multi console based on these things listed in this article. Just to reiterate, I never guaranteed that Halo Wars is coming to the PS3. I have this gut feeling that it will sooner or later. As far as Killzone 2, I consider it to be a killer app because I know gamers who are planning to buy a PS3 just for that game. I don't know anyone who wants to buy a 360 just to play Too Human.

Its not that a multiplatform Gears of War 2 is impossible, its that it is no more likely than a 360 exclusive Gears of War 2. To state it is "a certainty and inevitable" is just flat-out not so. Add on top of that that the original was Published by Microsoft Game Studios, and the likelehood of it being multiplat is even slimmer. Also, Halo Wars is being published by Microsoft Game Studios, and is being developed by Ensemble, which Microsoft owns. Halo Wars is not coming to PS3, ever. A PC port is very likely though. Again, if the sequel to the dissapointing Killzone can be considered a killer-ap, then so can Too Human, or any other unproven, yet promising, 08 360 title.

Why wouldn't Gears of War be multiconsole? It makes perfect sense for Gears to come to the PS3. More consoles = More $ for Epic Games. We don't even know if Halo Wars is a 360 exclusive. Sure, it might be an exclusive for 3 months but then it could be ported to the PC or PS3 after that. Too Human looks good, but I don't consider it to be a killer app.

"It is possible that the Gears of War sequels could be ported to the PS3? It is almost a certainty and inevitable." Where'd you pull that from? Indeed it is likely that Mass Effect will be multiplatform, although not neccessarily a guarantee, but the whole Gears of War comment comes out of nowhere and really there is nothing to back that up. Also, if you are going to mention unproven series like Killzone, then perhaps you should mention unproven 360 exclusive like Too Human or Halo Wars.
