Special Education Advocacy in this country is extremely important. Children and youth with disabilities from diverse populations need quality educational experiences within classrooms and learning facilities across this country every day. Those educational experiences must be preparatory in helping each one reach their full potential, from early childhood to adulthood. Yet, day after day, across this great nation, parents fight tooth and nail to obtain special education services for their children. Parental rights and those of their children are guaranteed under state and federal mandates established under IDEA and NCLB, when a suspect disability is identified through appropriate school referral via teacher or parent. Unfortunately, for a significant number of families of children and youth with disabilities, the process of navigating the bureaucracy within school systems, from the outset , is oftentimes a daunting exercise. Heightened anxiety and constant frustration are compounded with futile educational benefits and unproductive outcomes for their children, which may necessitate acquiring outside advocacy or legal services, in bringing serious and timely attention to their children's unique special educational needs and related services.
