When you’re on the run –job, kids, family, appointments - and hunger is knawing at your belly, you may be tempted to forgo health to a candy bar or soda or coffee just to make the next appointment. But hold on because you are probably passing yet another Burger King, right on your side of the street. Don’t despair now thinking, oh, no “supersize me”. Burger King does in fact have a most satisfying and very healthy garden grilled chicken salad! Right from the drive up window your health is at hand. The garden salad is available with either grilled or crispy chicken (don’t take the crispy, meaning fried breaded and caloric) and a choice of dressings which include a delicious “lite”.
Why am I touting this salad as A plus star rated for health and nutrition, and taste? This is a salad that is not just filler uppers, but serious balance for good health. The basic garden salad build (as they say in the food business) includes tomatoes, Romain and other green leafy lettuces, carrots, and cheese mixtures. Some branches also add onions, cukes and croutons. The chicken for the salad comes in a steamy hot pouch for you to add a few at a time or all at once. The chicken is nicely spiced, juicy, and of decent meaty quality.. . The salad is displayed on an attractive circular or rectangular dish (depending on the branch) with a clear cover to show off the lively colors and freshness. The choice of dressing includes the very tasty Ken’s lite Italian—my favorite at home in my refrigerator (it is alas a great dressing to add to sauces, and most vegetable and casserole dishes). There is a goodly amount of salad in the container…no skimpy wimpys…and no limp brown lettuces either since they are made fresh that day
