Chuckwagon Cook Offs: How to Participate

One popular food event that is taking the country by storm is the Chuck Wagon Cook-Off. These events allow participants to turn back the hands of time and experience the old west the way the way it was meant to be experienced, raw and untamed. In these events the entrants are judged not only on the authenticity and taste of their food, but on the authenticity of their chuck wagons and camps. Prizes are awarded in several categories including Ranch divisions and Trail divisions. This invitational Chuck Wagon Cook Off is an annual event that is usually held around mid-March in Scottsdale, Arizona. They offer several awards including: best meat, best bread, best beans, best dessert, best potatoes, most authentic wagon and Camp, farthest traveled, best overall for the Saturday lunch, Charlie Goodnight Award, best biscuits, best gravy, best flapjacks, best syrup, best coffee, and bet overall for the Sunday breakfast competition. All of these prizes range in value from a $50 third prize cash award to a $400 overall cash prize. If you are interested in participating in this event you will want to request information well before the March event.
