Natalie Portman: A Biography

I must start by saying Natalie Portman is exponentially rising my list of favorite actresses.  It's extremely hard to find a great actress through today's pick.  By today's standard, a woman who's name is on each and every magazine cover in the grocery store aisle is a great actress and that's how she rakes in all her fame and glory.  

Granted, in Hollywood the saying goes, "Any publicity is good publicity" or some variation of the phrase.  I guess you can't blame some actresses for getting in the door that way.  However, I'd like to open the door to Natalie Portman.  Her movie roles are all extremely substantial for someone who's just entering her mid-20s.  Her resume includes a number of roles that would make the most famous women in Hollywood envious.  Ladies and gentleman, let me introduce you to a REAL actress.

Natalie Portman was born in Jerusalem, Israel on June 9 in the year 1981.  The name we all know her by is not her real name.  Her last name is Hershlag but she took her on her grandmother's maiden name mainly to protect her private life.  Portman came from a very supportive family that assured her that whatever she wanted to do, she could and would achieve.  With this mentality, Portman set her sights on staying busy and involved in a number of school and extra-curricular activies which included studying dance.  More specifically, she began to study jazz, ballet and tapdancing.  The release of Dirty Dancing only furthered the perfection of this hobby and led to her role as an understudy for the lead in the off-Broadway show Ruthless.

Natalie Portman is building an extremely strong resume with her wise movie choices.
