When it comes to computer games, World of WarCraft is one of the top titles that many think of first. With the hit commercials and advertisements in just about any game store, it's hard to miss having some knowledge of what "WoW" is in the realm of gaming.
The game itself has been known to become addictive. There are many gamers who simply cannot get enough of WoW. From the time they awake, to the moment they lie down to sleep World of WarCraft is the primary thought on their mind. I have interviewed
three separate gamers who claim to be addicted to the game. I will introduce them by both their real name as well as their online character name. These unique individuals are:
Dustin - Character Name: Socketz
Mike - Character Name: Dabubba
Jim - Character Name: Ailura
For this interview I will be referring to them by their character titles on World of WarCraft.
Ayami: "How old are you?"
Socketz: "18"
Dabubba: "12"
Ailura: "I'm 32 years old."
Ayami: "How long have you been playing World of WarCraft?"
Socketz: "Around one year and three months."
Dabubba: "Five months."
Ailura: "Since February 2007."
Ayami: "Are you married or in a relationship? If so, which is it?"
Socketz: "Yes, girlfriend."
Dabubba: "Nope."
Ailura: "Currently I am single, but still looking for Mrs. Right."
Ayami: "How does your significant other react to your addiction to World of WarCraft?"
Socketz: "Well, she isn't a fan that's for sure. But, as long as I make time for her too she is ok."
Ayami: "If you had to choose between losing your partner or losing WoW forever, which would it be?"
Socketz: "Oh, no contest. WoW gone forever. Love isn't something you're given a second chance at and WoW is just a game."
I also had questioned them if they were not married or in a relationship.
Ayami: "If not married, do you live with your parents or a roommate?"
Socketz: "Yes, parents."
Dabubba: "Yes."
Ailura: "I live with my mother currently. My father died 3 years ago."
Ayami: "How do they react to your addiction to World of WarCraft?"
Socketz: "They think it's ok as long as I stay with my school work and don't neglect it."
Dabubba: "They ignore it."
