A CHRISTMAS GIFT TO TAMIL READERS

Just now I received a book from learned Professor and a myriad-talented genius Dr.S.Innasi, whom I revere most titled "Thiruththondar Kappiyam". This is not one among the thousands of books, published in Tamil.
It is an epic of grandeur, written in elegant Tamil, whose diction and verse-style may only be compared with that of Kamparamayanam.
The question may arise in your mind-what? An epic? At this age?
In twentieth century many poets have written mini-epics.
Starting from Bharati's Panchali sapatham, Barathidasan's Pantiyan parisu & many other narratives long poems we may come across hundreds of such variety. Those mini-epics or modern ballads are still celebrated by lovers of Tamil poetry.
Pulavar Kuzhanthai's Ravana Kaaviyam is an illustrious example for epics. One may disagree with its contents, but can not ignore its superb composition and poetic beauty.
Pulavar Kuzhanthai can be compared to Kampan for his poetic genius. This is not my opinion-but the opinion of Raa.Pi.Sethupillai a propagandist of Kamparamayanam, who dedicated his life to propagate the grandeur of its matter and manner.

Pulavar Kuzhanthai stands unique among Tamil poets for his artistic creation, which will stand long for centuries.

Our adorable Professor Innasi may undoubtedly be called as the Kampan of Twenty -first century for his epic, par excellence,Thiruththontar Puranam.
