The Nights Are Cold
And Misty Too
Darkness Fills The Air

Without The Sun
To Light The Way
The Night Owl Doesn't Care

Outside My Window
Hear Him Screech
Watch His Big Eyes Glare

Look Back And Smile
Makes Him Mad
Of That I Am Aware

Here Comes The Wind
Just Passin' Through
Never Seems To Stay

Stokes The Fire
Chills My Soul
As If I've lost my Way

That Ugly Old Tree
Has Lost It's Leaves
Not Much Of A Home

The Night Owl Likes
To Hoot At Me
To This We're Not Alone

Nocturnal Spirits
Find Their Way
Wherever They May Roam

P.S. Owls are awesome to observe. We have enjoyed watching the ones that live in our tree, as they raise their young ones, each year!

Perfect timing, for me to read this now. I just came home from work, which consisted of driving all night in the wind and rain! Awesome.

This one made me feel like I was lost and all alone in a forest in the middle of the winter. Okay I got it, Sleep Hollow, that's what it feels like. If you haven't seen it, check it out....cool movie!!......Awesome read!!

Mike - Grab a cup of something warm, and then read this one. You started something. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/512711/night_owls_song_a_rhyming_strike_for.html

Great job - I am such a night owl. I only sleep 4 hours a night anyway but it is still hard to stay awake!

Thanks for your comments everybody. I just thought I would lighten up a little and write about something I'm a little less passionate about---this annoying owl that pretty much lives in the tree just outside my window. I don't think he likes me cause I'm always telling him to shut up so I can get some sleep. Seriously, that's one noisy ass owl. Thanks again!

Love this poem, Mike. Your writing is very diverse in nature and I enjoy the fact that it is rarely the same. Great job on this and what a great topic: owls! You keep me coming back for more!

Thats one for the wise ole owl, and those who learn from them! Great one, Mike!
