Brain Age 2: A Nintendo DS Lite Game ReviewMy kids love playing video games on the Nintendo DS Lite. We've limited them, of course, like all responsible parents, but what happens when Mom is the one that enjoys the game more than the children?
Well, Brain Age 2 was just such a Nintendo DS Lite game. Grandma even got in on the action!
First, let me say that we don't own Brain Age, the first game. We picked up Brain Age 2 and started playing on the Nintendo DS Lite with no problem at all. All the directions for each sub-game are given so you can just pick up and run with it.
Supposedly, this game is supposed to make us smarter, more mentally agile, and quicker to recall facts and concepts. It might be a hit to self esteem, however, when 32 year old mom's brain age is 80! Grandma didn't appreciate that either. Nintendo was nice enough to make us able to only go to 80 years old!
But maybe the game works after all as both Mom and Grandma got considerably better over a few days. No doubt some of that was just figuring out how the Nintendo DS Lite and game worked, getting better out of practice. But then one tends to do better on new sub-games as they pop up also which suggests an overall brain building going on, doesn't it?
That brings us to another neat feature of this Nintendo DS Lite game, Brain Age 2. Players start off with a handful of games such as Rock, Paper, Scissors and Word Scramble. Then additional sub-games are added as you progress.
The games on Brain Age 2 really range in both content and purpose. It's much like exercising your body. You may focus on your biceps with one movement then change it up and work on your triceps. Of course, ideally you'll get to your glutes too! The same is true with Brain Age 2 for the Nintendo DS Lite. Some games are more fun than others, but though I couldn't convince Grandma, I think that is because some people are better at some games than others! I think Grandma was neglecting her glutes!
