When a football fan thinks of the Green Bay Packers he may think of the great teams of the 1960's under Vince Lombardi that won so many championships. He may think of the teams of the 1990's and current decade that won one Super Bowl championship, played in another, and have played in many playoff games. Many residents of the Green Bay and Wisconsin area, however, might also think of the great involvement of the Packers in the lives of local citizens and serving through charities.

Many non-profit organizations in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan receive assistance from the Packers.

The Coach of the Week program assists in the development of youth football. With the program, the Packers and the NFL give $1,000 each week during the high school football season to the football program of the winning coach for that week. The winning coach for each week is also honored on the NFL's official high school football website, www.NFLHS.com.

The Green Bay Packers and NFL Charities also annually recognize outstanding volunteers in Wisconsin through the Green Bay Packers Community Quarterback Award. Those who win the awards have been nominated by non-profit organizations because of their leadership skills, dedication, and involvement in bettering their communities through volunteerism.

With the same requirements as the Green Bay Packers Community Quarterback Award, those younger than 21 may be nominated for annual Jr. Community Quarterback Awards.

The team also participates in the NFL Youth Football Fund Grassroots Program, in partnership with the National Football League Youth Football Fund (NFL YFF) and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation. Through the program middle schools and high schools are given the technical assistance and financing necessary to accessibility, quality, and safety of football fields.
