This week, BLADES OF STEEL, Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble and Rolling Thunder 2 arrive on the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console. Here is a brief rundown on the titles of yesteryear.

BLADES OF STEEL
Developer: KONAMI
Publisher: KONAMI
Original System: NES
Original Release Date: 1988
Genre: Sports
Controller Options: Classic, Gamecube and Wii Remote
Wii Points: 500
ESRB Rating: E

BLADES OF STEEL is an oldie but goodie. It was as revolutionary to hockey games as DOUBLE DRIBBLE was to the basketball genre. For hockey fans and sports fans in general, BLADES OF STEEL is a definite buy.

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble
Developer: Rareware
Publisher: Nintendo
Original System: Super NES
Original Release Date: 1996
Genre: Action
Controller Options: Classic and Gamecube
Wii Points: 800
ESRB Rating: E

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble is the third and final game in the series that showed the power of 2D games when 3D games were emerging. Although it may not be the best in the series, Donkey Kong Country 3 is still one of the better 2D platformers out there. Thus, Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble is the best Virtual Console game this week.

Rolling Thunder 2

Developer: Namco
Publisher: NBGI
Original System: Sega Genesis
Original Release Date: 1991
Genre: Action
Controller Options: Classic, Gamecube and Wii Remote
Wii Points: 800
ESRB Rating: E

Rolling Thunder 2 is all about run-and-gun action. Like so many games of the genre (with the exception to the Contra series), it hasn't aged very well. Get the Contra games instead of Rolling Thunder 2.
