The Oster 6684 Blender is the third blending equipment to march into my kitchen in the last two and half years. I guess the blenders are one of the most used apparatus at my house and only a real winner in terms of efficiency, capacity and speed can survive. Once the Hamilton Beach Blender glass bowl cracked in the dishwasher pathetically, it gave way to the Braun Powermax and this was my trusted blender until the plastic spokes at its base pulled out and it had a premature death in the second month itself. While I was toying the idea of purchasing a Vitamix Blender, my boy friend gifted the Oster Blender with the impressive 12 speed control. The first thing that I noticed was that it is powered by only 450 watt motor where as my previous Braun was run by an imposing 525 motor. The impact of the relatively les powerful motor was quiet evident in the performance of the Oster blender. But I would like to make it very clear that it is not a bad performer and is still lot better than the expensive models. I was of the view that the Oster with its 12 pulse speed feature would definitely outperform the Braun that comes with 6 speed control, but then it was just a dream. I guess it is the mighty motor that plays a significant role in the blender and hence according to my experience the Oster comes only after Braun.
I was just wondering when both the Braun and the Oster is available for something around $40, then what makes the manufacturers to go for a low power motor. Just like the Braun, this has a transparent crystal clear capacious glass pitcher with an ergonomically designed handle. I did not have any problem of the liquid leaking through the lid during the blending process in both Braun as well as the Oster and this is really commendable. The glass jar has a small opening in the top through which the ingredients can be added as and when required during the blending operation and this is perfectly sealed with absolutely no issues of any liquid seeping out of it. But this was not the case in Braun.
