Oster BRLY07 600 Watt Fusion Blender with Food Processor Attachment: Review

I got the Oster BRLY07 Fusion model recently after my previous Oster blender broke down after a long service of more than a decade. This is basically a two in one appliance with a Blender as well as the Food Processor Attachment and is great for those who live in small apartment and
cannot afford to spare storage space for a separate blender and a food processor. The key to the impressive performance of this appliance is the powerful 600 watt motor that can take anything that comes in its way like a breeze. The mighty motor makes it an efficient blender as well as a food processor not only in paper but also in action.

This is a well crafted user friendly kitchen aid that can be used as a blender and processor without any time consuming assembling or installation. I guess it is the expensive price tag that makes most of the people to think twice in spite of its superior performance. The issue raised by most of the people is that the Oster does not respond to the customer queries promptly and I am not sure to what extent this is right. One big time problem that I was not aware of while purchasing this master blaster is the difficulty to get the replacement parts. If only the Oster takes care of these two issues, I ma damn sure that more people would march ahead and grab this gadget.

I use it regularly for making smoothies, frozen drink, soup, juice, milk shakes and protein shakes effortlessly and it hardly takes a minutes. This can also cut, chop, mince and shred vegetables, fruits and cheese in required size and thickness like a professional chef. I have not used it for mixing the cookie dough and I don't think the blade is designed for that purpose. This is a perfect blender that crushes ice smoothly and mixes the powder and frozen fruits evenly without any lumps or sediments at the base of the pitcher. This come with a crystal clear transparent glass jar with a capacity to take 6 cups and is also provided with an ergonomically designed handle. The lid sits tightly on the jar and the rubber sealing makes it completely leak proof. Ingredients can be added during the operation by pushing them down through the food chute.

I HIGHLY recommend against this blender.. I purchased one in June 2007. By November it quit working; it would just not turn on. I complained violently to Oster and they sent me a replacement unit and by April that unit died with the same problem. Having researched other consumer review sites, it appears that this problem is very common among others. Clearly, there is a design defect in this unit. While it was working, the unit was OK. How embarrassing for Oster. Clearly, they invested a lot of money developing a product that looks nice with a lot of fancy features. After all of that, they failed to build a product which can last more than 4 months. For the money spent, one should not have to track down a new base unit every 4 months.
