Arlington Texas is conveniently located between Dallas and Fort Worth Texas and has a lot of offer. The city has over 4,000 acres of park land, 5 recreation centers, 49 tennis courts, 6 swimming pools, 44 miles of park trail, 21 basketball courts, 4 golf courses, and 2 softball complexes. There are also theme parks, sports stadiums, museums, theatres, art galleries, and music halls. All of this excitement draws over 7 million visitors annually to the city of Arlington, Texas.

These are some of my favorite sites and sounds in Arlington.

1. The Country Peddler Show comes to Arlington Convention Center in March, August and November every year. People from all around converge to sell just about anything you can imagine. Among the menagerie of goodies to be found are stained glass, stepping stones, homemade jelly, specialty clothing, candles, handmade quilts ... and too much more to list! Visit the convention center website at http://www.arlingtoncc.com/ for info on this and many other special events.

2. Daired's Salon & Spa Pangea is the only facility in the DFW area to offer a hair salon, full service day spa, café, and conference center ... all under one roof! Their spa combines holistic wellness, fitness, and nutrition services which compliment the traditional services you would expect to find at other spas. The hair salon offers expert stylists with training in hair color, unique and traditional hair styling techniques, and makeup advice. The café employs a personal chef who prepares each menu item fresh daily. Visit their website http://www.daireds.com for more info.

3. Alley Cats is a great place to take the family! You'll find 24 lanes of bowling, a rock climbing wall, laser tag, billiards and a video game room with over 100 games! Our nephew has his birthday party there and everyone had a blast, but this place isn't only for kids. They also offer special pricing for corporate events and have a full catered menu and full bar. I really like the place because it's smoke free so you don't have to stand around inhaling second hand smoke! Visit their website http://www.alleycatsbowl.com/ for more info.

This was an interesting article. I lived in Arlington for the first 21 years of my life and have not done any of the things that you suggested. Of course, I haven't lived there for 12 years, so some of these things might be new. Six Flags goes without mentioning. I still try to go when I visit my family.

Great fun awaits in Arlington for sure! Missing DFW area where I made it home for 16+ years! BTW: Here's how my family and some of my neighbors got into 6 Flags Over Texas for FREE every Xmas season for years - In March of each year (sign-up dates may be different now, so call them) any "group" willing to sing Christmas Carols for 30 minutes in the park, gets free admission for that same day. We designated ourselves as a neighborhood babysitting co-op, and sang as a 'mixed' choir of moms, dads, and kids... no rehersals... just raw fun... and an entire free day at 6 Flags for 5 years in a row... Great "neighbors memories" :-)
