Making an attractive candle that gets attention isn't hard to do and for an extra WOW... you can create one that will fit in your pocket and has a lid. To make this candle you'll need a box of crayons or if you have small broken pieces of crayons that are too small to hold just lying around the house you can use them. You'll also need a shoe polish can that is metal and has a lid, a wick, a pan for melting the wax in, a stirring utensil, wax paper and a toothpick. In preparation you'll want to make sure that any shoe polish residue leftover in the can and on the lid is removed. Use an old rag or a paper towel and wipe it thoroughly. Next remove all the paper from the crayons. Sit the shoe polish can on the wax paper and place the lid to the side. The wax paper will catch any spilled wax when it is poured.
To begin place the crayons in the pan and turn the flame on low heat. Crayon wax may catch fire in pan. As the different colors of crayons begin to melt stir them together. When the crayons are completely liquid quickly pour the mix into the shoe polish can as you hold the wick in its middle. While the wax is still hot take the toothpick and swirl the liquid. Start beside the wick and work outwards. Swirl the liquid as if you were creating the shell pattern of a snail. When you are done lay the toothpick on the paper and allow the wax to finish cooling off. After it has hardened you can cover the candle with the lid.
If you want to add fragrance to the candle to make it scented you'll need to buy some scented oil or you can use your choice of vanilla, lemon and almond extracts. Add the oil or extracts to the crayon wax after it has melted in the pan, stir the mix and then pour it into the shoe polish can.
If you want more than one wick try holding one between the thumb and its closest finger while holding the other wick at the same time between the pinkie and its next door neighbor finger while pouring the wax with the other hand. If you want three wicks ask a buddy to help you hold the wicks in place. Be careful when burning the candle, don't leave it unattended, as crayon wax may be easier to catch fire than a typical wax candle.
