Dangerous drugs are being sold over the counter and in prescription forms. How are we as a society able to trust these medications? What type of side effects are OK to live with, and which are dangerous? Head lice and scabies are common yet are treated with pesticides. Scabies and head lice are popular medical conditions within some settings we expose our children to on a daily basis. As we all know, the scabies and head lice are parasites, bugs if you will, and what kills bugs? Pesticides are what kill bugs we all know this.
Do you really want to put a pesticide on your child? Lindane is a prescription that is commonly used to treat head lice and scabies. But in the United States, it is a pesticide used to keep bugs off crops.
I have only dealt with head lice one time for one of my children and we used the over-the-counter type of medicine called Nix. Nix is still a pesticide and I did not fully read the patient information 15 years ago when my daughter came home from head start with Lice.
The medical communities say the side effects from nix are minimal at best. Yet the FDA adds warnings to the bug repellents we use on our children as well as to the ones for adults.
There are many safer alternatives to head lice then using pesticides on our children. Dr Greene MD shares some information on a non- medicated treatment of lice. His report is very interesting to say the least and I hope I never have to use Nix again on my children. Natural is better when dealing with medicines of that nature.
If your child comes home from school with lice or scabies, I would recommend the natural remedy as shown to us by Dr. Greene, then the NIX if needed. If you have to go, the routes of the Lindane then use extreme caution. I found the side effects listed here, and while they sound minimal, I did further research and found another report that was unreal.
