The object of Mad Gab is to be the first team to reach thirty points. Points are scored when a team solves the Mad Gab puzzle. The puzzles consist of weird unrelated sounds that when you read it out loud it makes no sense. However, the more you repeat these sounds the closer you could get in solving the problem. An example would be "Has Is Tent Men Itcher". If you keep repeating this again and again, perhaps someone would give the correct answer "assistant manager". Now, if you believe that was easy, there's more to this game. It's all time related. The teams need to solve three puzzles before the timer stops. If you solve all three puzzles, you can score bonus points. If you miss one, someone on the other team who was designated as the "puzzle solver" can steal that puzzle if they have the solution. Add a few drinks to this, and it can really get wild.
It's really a great way to bring the family together no matter what the time of the year it is. Anyone really can play even though it says "Adults". The only reason they put "Adults" on the box is because they might be assuming younger children might not know some of the words. This may be true. However, I would not underestimate that. The children today are far more beyond their years than we believe. Playing games with the family brings as much unity as sitting down together for dinner. It teaches us about sportsmanship and in this case teamwork.
Here is one bit of advice I would give you if you bought this game. Designate someone on your team to be the person who reads the puzzle out loud over and over. Then the other teammates should just listen to the sounds. Normally, I am good at games but for some reason I must admit it took me a while to catch on to that. This is definitely the perfect game for any occasion.
