The trendy 50's beehive hairstyle may have seemed like a ridiculous style that could never possibly make a comeback. But, to many people's surprise it is being made popular again by new stars such as Amy Winehouse. You too can archive this hipper and messier version of the classic hairstyle. It's quick and easy and can be done by almost anyone with a little practice.

To style your own beehive at home you will need: styling spray, hair spray, a comb, and lots of bobby pins. It also works better the longer your hair is.

If you can, try not to wash your hair on the day you plan on wearing your hair in a beehive. Having some natural grease in your hair will help it stay in place better and make it easier to style overall.

The first thing you need to do is separate your hair into to sections, one on the top and one on the bottom.

Then take the top section of your hair and spray it with the styling spray. Now, tease underneath it, by backcombing, to create lots of light volume.

Your hair will become large and rigid from all the backcombing. Turn over the bottom part of the hair that was just teased to pin it in place, almost like you are folding the section in half.

Make sure that before you pin the hair in place you push it forward. This is to create the height that the beehive hairstyle is known for. You can push it forward a lot of a little depending on how dramatic of a look you are going for. Keep in mind your hair type and how well it usually holds styles when decided how big to make your beehive.

Remember, teasing and backcombing your hair can give you split ends and make your hair generally weaker. If you want to keep your hair strong and healthy I would advise not styling it so dramatically every day.
