A Comparison of Two Major Adult Acne Skin Care Product Formulas
With thousands of products on the market right now that are designed to specifically treat acne, one can understandably be clueless about where to turn. There is the regular, over the counter, grocery store type of stuff like Noxzema and Oxy. There's the prescription stuff like Retin-A and Accutane. Although the two groups of products use completely different ingredients, the way they work as well as the inventing doctors' goals behind the product, I found, were very similar in nature.
Proactiv Solution , 29.95 was invented by two women, Dr. Katy Rodin and Kathy Fields, who met in dermatology school at Stanford University and after many years of discussing a plan to help today's society cope with inevitable acne problems, eventually met back up to open a clinic and sell the Proactiv formula. The Murad Acne Complex Kit, 29.99, just one in his long line of self titled brand products, is the child of Dr. Murad, a Dermatologist, Pharmacist and Associate Professor of Dermatology, UCLA. After seeing several thousand patients at his dermatological practice in El Segundo, California, Murad had direct insight into how the skin works and how to prevent the acne breakouts from occurring.

I have been using Proactiv for over 5 years, I am now 33 years old male. In my early 20s I had pimples on top of pimples. I saw the comercials saying the acne will be gone in 3 to 6 months(did not happen). It took care of over 90 percent of my acne after a year and a half. I did see after 6 months 60 percent clearing. No it didn't get rid of all my acne but over 90 percent is very high... I could count over 50 pimples on my face before proactive and now I might have 2 or 3 sometimes more sometimes less. It took about 1 and a half years to get my face this clear and I know if I stop using it, especially when I get lazy and don't feel like spending the time to put it on. My face WILL break out again. But with many products that Proactive offers I can find a combination that takes care of it right away. I tried switching products over a year ago.----I tried using IQ Derma which advertised, it was better than Proactive. Guess what, it didn't work. I went from having 4 pimples to

i've been reading tons of reviews on these 2 products & i gotta say.. i'm among the many who've had problems with Proactiv. when i first used it, it worked wonders & actually made my redness disappear.. all of a sudden after a few months, it just seemed to stop working... and it sucked! im not too convinced with Murad either, as it sounds almost the same.. but, everyone does have very different skin, so i dunno.
i went to a dermatologist once though, & he even told me that creams/gels DO NOT work for everybody. he actually prescribed to me doryx (pills) & differin gel.. it pretty much counteracts with each other, so u dont have horrible redness & breakouts, yet your acne is being treated. FOR ME, it worked VERY WELL.. u just have to bite the bullet & pay a little extra to see a derma & have re-fills (but the gel actually lasts for a while, as you don't need to use a lot)
my suggestion.. SEE A DERMATOLOGIST & ASK FOR SUGGESTIONS and THEN make a decision. i hope this helped a fe

me and my cousin both suffer dearly with acne and have both tried proactive solution. one thing i have to say is very disappointed. my suffering continues. hoping to try murad and having my fingers toes and everything crossed. i need clear skin.

yeah, i tried proactiv for 3 or 4 months when I lived in georgia. like most people said, it worked pretty well for a month and a half, maybe two months, but then it just stopped working...
that's probably because i HATED using it. it took like 10 minutes, x2 for twice a day application, and the benzoyl peroxide stung. also, it made my skin feel and look red, irritated, etc. so i never wanted to do it in the morning before school. i don't remember the details of its deterioration, but i probably skimped on the application and it stopped doing anything.
thankfully the weather in georgia was so good my skin seemed to get naturally better after quitting proactiv... i moved up north though and as my skin got worse, i tried to fall back on proactiv. it made my skin far worse. so no, i don't like it - but i've done research that suggests that oily-skinned people should use benzoyl products while dry-skinned people (like myself) should use salicylic acid. maybe i'll try murad sometime.

Proactive Use: I have used it for about .... 2 or 3 Years! it dosent look like anything has changed on mi skin.
well mayb a little but i still have alot on my face. so im thinkin since Murad dosent have any Benzoyl Peroxide. i should try & use it.
cuz mi doctor gave a prescription && it has Benzoyl Peroxide in it.. NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER!
so im hopin Murad will work twice as good. cuz i want all my acne gone wen im back to skool!

So here it is:
A year ago, I ordered Proactiv for the first time (With EXTREMELY huge pimples covering my entire face. I mean those pimples that are close to 5 or 6 millimeters in diameter and actually cause extreme pain when smiling, eating, talking, or simply moving your face at all). Once the package arrived, I began to use it religiously. For the next two to three weeks my skin got worse! I began to complain to my cousin (who is a dermatologist) and she informed me that this "purging" is to be expected when trying a new product. Shortly after, my acne began clearing up very well. After two months, I was left with very minor acne on my forehead. At this point, progression seemed to stop. Expecting absolute perfection (which is unrealistic regardless of the product being used) I swapped to Murad. ALL OF MY ACNE came back from Murad and was magnitudes worse than what it was prior to Proactiv. I'm switching back to proactiv and will be humble with whatever results I get.

um..I've been using proactive for about ... well more than a year and the first month or two or worked well but didn't completely clear my face up. i kept using it and slowly the acne came back, not as bad as it was before i started using the treatment but it was obvious it wasn't helping anymore. So i got Arbonne Clear Advantage or whatever and tried it... it only made my acne worse even tho it felt really good on my face to use, then i tried Murad... well i didn't know that arbonne and murad have that salicylic acid so pretty much murad didn't help anything. but i just ordered the extra strength proactiv. i haven't gotten it yet but i doubt it will work... this sucks... i can't find anything that works... :(

I tried Proactive about a year ago, for maybe a few months. At first I saw a small amount of results, but then it just seemed to quit working. I just quit using it after a while and I've been trying various acne products ever since, but of course, nothing worked. But last night I saw a commercial for the Murad Acne Complex system. It looked very convincing (but don't they all?), so I'm going to order it and see just how well it will REALLY work. Hopefully this will be the last time I have to search for a miracle product!

I've tried Proactic for a few months,,it worked in th beginning but after 2 months my acne got worst.It got so worst that I didn't want to go to school for a week.Don't waste your money on this product.Go buy some shoes or something.Good luck to U all
