Rhode Island is located in southern new England and doesn't really get the winter sports notoriety that Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont receive. Nonetheless because of the presence of a minor league hockey team in the state capital of Providence Rhode Island as well as the existence of lots of intercollegiate hockey at local schools like Brown University and perennial hockey power house, Providence RI. The interest in ice skating that has been created by the competitions staged by these teams has led to the creation of a variety of skating opportunities across the state including some of these top ice skating spots.

Bank of America, City Center, Providence,RI. It may not have quite the glamor of skating in New York City, nor is it as historic as the Frog Pond on Boston Common, but the Bank of America, City Center in Providence, RI provides great public skating opportunities all winter long and certainly is one of the top ice Skating spots in Rhode Island.

Monday - Friday the center schedules public skating from 10 a.m- 10p.m. in 4 hour blocks . Saturday and Sunday finds the schedule shortened by an hour during the first segment which runs from 11a.m.-2 p.m . Remaining time blocks are then from 2-6 p.m. and from 6-10 p.m. The prices for using this facility are $6 per person and $3 for senior citizens and children. Skates can be rented for $4 . There are some good deals that can be had here with discounts offered for group skating and half price rates in play for lunch time, two hour blocks. Especially nice for those who are real enthusiasts and know they will skate more than 10 times during the season,for $60 adults can get a season pass and skate at the Bank of America City Center til their hearts content.

Providence, RI has gone through a major face lift over the last 2 decades and the presence of this excellent ice skating in the downtown area helps to keep spirits bright and happy throughout the cold weather months.
