Minor league baseball teams are known for having some goofy or outlandish promotions in order to get people to come to their games. Here are some of the teams and the promotions they have had in the past.

Fresno Grizzlies

Mustache Appreciation Night

In May 2007, fans were encouraged to grow mustaches. They were also encouraged to solicit friends and family into sponsoring them and then the donations to charity. Fans with mustaches got in for free and there were contests held for "best in show," "best Tom Selleck look-alike," and "Most Pathetic."

Second Chance Night

On this night in 2006, probation officers got into the game for free. Also, anybody who brought in a traffic ticket and promised to never do it again also got in for free.

Kevin Federline Night

The first 3,000 fans got free temporary K-Fed tattoos. The night also included a montage of Fererline's "career highlights," and a dance contest between the dance troop to which Kevin Federline once belonged and the Grizzlies' mascot. However, Kevin Federline did not show up at the baseball game.

Hagerstown (Maryland) Suns

McDreamy Day

On this day, the baseball game also had a scrubs fashion show and a medical terms spelling bee.

Augusta (Georgia) Green Jackets

Anger Management Night

A rival team's manager had a meltdown. The Green Jackets had a night where they offered the first 250 fans free stress balls and DVDs of the movie Anger Management.

Newark (New Jersey) Bears

Britney Spears Baby Safety Night

On this night in 2006, fans who dressed as a baby, brought a baby toy, or brought an actual baby got in for free. Everybody received a brochure about baby safety.

San Antonio Missions

Used Car Night

A dozen fans were picked at random and won used luxury automobiles.

Southwest Michigan Devil Rays

College Course Giveaway Night

This night in 2006, fans got a certificate for a free three-credit course of their choice at nearby Kellogg Community College.

Brevard County (Florida) Manatees

World Record First Pitch Attempt Day

Loved this one. Even though I am from a big league town (Go Indians!), minor league baseball is a fun thing to do.

Sometimes the minor league games are more fun than the major leagues...and a lot cheaper!

Federline had career highlights? Does a burger King commercial count as a career? Very good article!

Nice to see teams can afford to be creative when you aren't more concerned with charging people 30-40 bucks for seats.
