The Cobra MF 2500 black box fishfinder is the ultimate in state of the art gear for fishing. This MF 2500 is an invaluable tool for any fishing trip.

The one problem I have is that Cobra electronics corporation is an electronics company more then a fishing company and so it doesn't seem like it is made with the same knowledge as practicality as other device which are made by popular fishing companies or even from large outdoors companies like Cabelas, or REI would have even. The one good thing that being an electronic company is that as an electronics gadget it works well.

Some of the other products that Cobra offers include walkie-talkies, CB radios, navigation devices, and radar detectors not products that you take along with you for a fishing trip.

Another problem that I had with the MF 2500 is that it is hard to find. I tried looking for it online to get a good deal but the only place I could find it was on Amazon, although Amazon did have it at a good price. The MSRP is $350 but you can get it on Amazon for $300. They have some used for $150. I checked recently and Amazon said they only had one left that could be because of the holidays but since it is so hard to find I think that this product might soon be discontinued or replaced.

The product itself is fairly reasonably priced if you get on Amazon or somewhere lese on sale the MSRP is a bit high for what you get though. The MF 2500 is a step up from the older versions of fish finders and is a good addition to your fishing trip. It is waterproof which is nice but its pretty essential. The design is confusing at first but once you figure the thing out it is a pretty nice piece of equipment. It has a dual frequency, and automatically is selected for 500 or 1000 watts because that works best on boats so while it might not be designed for fisherman with fishing in mind its application was thought about.

All in all it's a good piece of equipment but I might wait and see if a newer version comes along first.
