I haven't even heard of half of these, but I really try to avoid fad diets in general. The only one that has ever worked for me is Fit For Life, which is really just increasing your fruit/vegetable intake and not combining meat and carbs in the same meal. Great article!

I have to disagree on the Somersize diet. I lost 75 pounds on the diet and was healthier than I'd ever been in my life. Carbs are allowed but in healthy amounts and high proteins aren't actually "required." The real key here is cutting sugar and white flour type foods. My doctor approved the diet for me and it is the only one that I can do without feeling deprived because she provides such excellent recipes for desserts and everything else you can think of. BUT, let's face it. A diet that works for me isn't necessarily going to work for everyone else. I simply can't afford the expensive foods of some of the other popular diets. Great job, though, Pam. I totally agree with most of your conclusions.

This is an excellent article for many reasons: your layout, the highlights of the pros and cons of each diet and the tight writing but all the important information included. Nice one!
