1.Michael Vick, QB, Atlanta. Vick gets a lot of press for his outstanding athletic ability but as a fantasy QB, he’s nothing special. Last year, he threw for 15 touchdown passes and only 2, 412 yards. Drew Bledsoe and Gus Frerotte both threw more TDs than Vick. Because of his style, Vick is also very injury prone. He’ll earn you some points with his feet, but don’t even think of drafting Vick in the first three rounds of any fantasy draft, it’s too big a gamble.
2.Brian Westbrook, RB, Philadelphia. When healthy, Westbrook is a top notch offensive threat on the football field. Unfortunately, he’s often injured. In addition, because the Eagles feature a pass-first offense, Westbrook won’t see the end zone as much as most top ranked running backs. If you’re in a touchdown league, wait until at least the fourth or fifth round to draft Westbrook. If you’re in a yardage league, wait until at least the third.
3.Samkon Gado, RB, Green Bay. Gado is worth a late round pick, but he may not even start for the Packers. Green Bay has a rebuilt offensive line and a new blocking scheme, both of which may hamper Gado’s productivity. Don’t jump on Gado’s bandwagon just yet. He’s a possible fantasy sleeper, but he’s not worth an early round pick.
4.Jeremy Shockey, TE, NY Giants. Shockey is always getting hurt because he plays with such intensity. He is definitely among the top five tight ends available but that still makes him a fifth or sixth round pick at best.
