When it comes time for college students to pick a great place to spend spring break, their minds typically go to areas full of warm weather, hot bodies and cold drinks. They may focus on Cancun or Daytona, but many miss out on a great destination with the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic has everything a spring break vacationer could want, from an exotic location to great weather and hot locations.

The Dominican Republic was recently picked as the second most popular destinations for spring break-loving college students around the world. For those that head down, they've learned that this is a great place to spend a week in between classes. Not only do they have the chance to mingle with coeds from around the world, but it makes a great story to tell their friends once they get back.

Start with a visit to Punta Cana. This legendary area of the Dominican Republic is famous among spring breakers who love snorkeling. This is the place to go to see dozens of fish species darting through crystal clear blue waters. There is also a famous underwater rainbow that changes appearance with each look. Or try Saona Island. Saona Island is the best place to find hot bodies and cold drinks. It takes a short boat ride to reach the destination, which distracts some, but try it and you won't be disappointed.

Everyone, even the most die hard spring break visitor needs time to unwind and get away from the massive amounts of alcohol. That's when it's time to hit the Plaza Bavero. This open air market has everything a visitor to the Dominican Republic could need, from clothing to souvenirs and aspirin. Then there's El Cortesito Flea Market. The flea market sets up on the beach where travelers can find unique and one of a kind souvenirs as well as restaurants selling fresh caught seafood.
