If you are in the US or elsewhere and are coated with blankets of snow or ice, I wish you safety and warmth for the New Year. Here's a small bit of rhymery to better explain my feelings and wishes as 2008 begins:

We live where there's a dearth of snow
it's really rather warm you know
a plethora would be so sweet
and make our winter more complete

Instead the early daffodils
are blooming on a thousand hills
the birdies tweet and what is more
it's early Spring we have in store

Is it too much to ask for ice?
white snowflakes would be very nice
I guess we're well out of the pack
from heavy snowfall which we lack

For scraping ice off windshields cold
is not a value to uphold
much better lounging on the deck
no muffler snugged about my neck

A lack of snow can be so warm
as buzzy bees around me swarm
now pass the lemon tea with ice
then mosey south is my advice!
