One of the newest ways that people all across the world can show support for various causes is through bracelets that bear the name of the cause or disease. Various cancer, diabetes and Parkinson’s organizations have bracelets that are worn by supporters and donors, and now you can obtain an Alzheimer’s Awareness Bracelet that will demonstrate your support of the research and funding.

People all over the world who are affected by Alzheimer’s in one way or another - either as a sufferer or as a loved one of a sufferer - know how heart wrenching this disease can be for everyone involved. The Alzheimer’s Awareness Bracelets serve to garner exposure for the organizations that fund research into Alzheimer’s, and to show support for sufferers and for family members.

Even though most people have heard of Alzheimer’s, or perhaps even know someone who has suffered from the disease, there is far too little public knowledge on the subject. Alzheimer’s Awareness Bracelets can help to spread knowledge and information about the disease so that more people can become active when it comes to educating the public. The more media attention that Alzheimer’s receives, the more funds will be allocated for the treatment of Alzheimer’s and into the research for a cure.

Obtaining the Alzheimer’s Awareness Bracelet
If you think that the Alzheimer’s Awareness Bracelet might be a positive way for you to show your support, it will be fairly easy to get ahold of one (or several). They can usually be obtained by sending a small donation to one of the many Alzheimer’s awareness groups, such as the Alzheimer's Federation of America or the Alzheimer's Association.

When you make such a donation to an accredited organization, you can rest assured that your donation dollars will be spent in the name of research and treatment. These organizations donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to national and international research firms as well as to hospitals that treat Alzheimer’s disease.

Takeaways
  • Alzheimer's Awareness bracelets can spread the word about Alzheimer's research.
  • The bracelets can be obtained by making a nominal donation to an Alzheimer's organization.
  • Bracelets can be worn around the wrist, on a necklace or in any other visible place.

I lost my precious Mother to this cruel and memory robbing disease on August 5th, 2007. She was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 1996. I knew nothing of this "new" disease, and it broke my heart the day of her diagnosis. I went to work quickly, to find each and every book, article, and video that I could get my hands on, from the public library. I read and read, and as I read, I thought to myself...the doctor is wrong. How could this happen to MY MOM? I was in denial. The next decade became the most difficult and depressiing time of my life. Eventually, I had to quit my job to tend to my Mom's ever growing needs, 24 hours a day, and seven days a week. There were times when I was certain that I would lose MY mind, from lack of relief of the repetitive questions from Mom. This disease is the longest and most debilitating I have ever seen and witnessed in my life. I know now why it is called, "The Long Goodbye". I urge everyone reading this to please, get those bracelets out there, and

8/15/2007 I too have been looking for bracelets especially with a lot of my friends needing a youth size. I under the Alzheimers Store may be open soon and start carrying the purple shirts and bracelets. My 91 year old mom outlived all her relatives and became a great grandma and it kills me that she doesnt know. She started with demensia at the age of 83 and continued to live at home with the help of friends and I did her cooking but the day we came and found her on the floor she needed to be put in a nursing home, the only thing I can say is thank goodness she doesnt know where she is. I am now seeing one of my co-workers parents going through this. We need to find a cure and support all that are facing this in their lives. Lets get those bracelets out there.

I too am unable to order the Alzheimer's support bracelets. This is such a horrific disease that we need to come together and be heard on behalf of those in our lives who no longer have their own voice. My mother, a hard working, healthy, happy, fantastic ballroom dancer, wonderful grandmother, loving wife and most of all my confidant as well as my best friend was diagnosed just four years ago with dimensia, she now has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, she lives with me and my husband, my daughter and my son all help me to care for this once full of life beautiful woman.... who now only occasionally knows who I am.. but it's okay, all I have to see is her smile, and a little squeeze from hand and it gives me the strength to go forward and the courage to be her voice. Please, please let's all show our support for those we love.
