Lower Blood Sugar: A Few Useful Vitamins, Minerals and Elements
Vitamin B complex
Because patients with diabetes tend to have high urinary output, most are plagued by a Vitamin B deficiency. Vitamins of the B group are known to significantly reduce fat in the blood as well as cholesterol, and diabetes patients must take more than the usual dosage in order to enjoy the maximum effect. Scientific studies have shown that diabetes patients who take in more than 150,000 units of Vitamin B complex experience healthier blood and therefore are better apt to fight the disease. In addition to oral capsule or pill supplements, large portions of meat, dairy and eggs will supply a sufficient amount of Vitamin B complex.
Thiamine
Of all of the B group vitamins, Thiamine (B1) is especially beneficial when it comes to patients with diabetes. Thiamine deficiencies in diabetes patients can result in a condition called neuritis, which can be rectified with the administration of large quantities of Thiamine. This is one of the most helpful vitamins for diabetes patients, and even help to prevent brain damage during diabetic acidosis. The more insulin a diabetic patient is required to take, the more Thiamine will be necessary as an added supplement.
Thiamine is found in a variety of foods, including wheat germ, yeast, rice, wheat and other whole grain cereals,, nuts, peas, pulses, leafy vegetables, apples and bananas.
Vitamin E
Selenium and vitamin E supplements can help to eliminate free radicals in the bloodstream, thereby purifying a diabetes patient’s blood and helping with the cleansing of the system.
Vitamins can help your body's natural defenses battle heinous diseases like diabetes.
