Living on the east coast, we received bits and pieces of a story that evolved into a shameful epic. I refer to the experience of three boys, ages 17 to 23, and a four year old Siberian tiger crossing paths on a fateful Christmas afternoon, 2007, in the San Francisco Zoo. As news first was reported and spread across the states, ponds and oceans, it was unclear as to why or how a 350 lb. tiger could possibly have escaped its enclosure. No one understood how the cage remained closed and locked, and yet a female tiger named "Tatiana", now lie shot dead, one boy lie in a morgue, and two others remained in hospital care. The communication lines had strangely shut down, and no further information was purging forth the truth of a quite disturbing incident.

This seemed to be the first sign of an investigation that was off kilter to say the very least. Why were the two surviving victims remaining oddly quiet and unresponsive to the police investigation? Why were there no further leads or answers explaining a seemingly simple eye witness account ,that simply needed to be documented into a report, a conclusion? These are the questions that a nation queries over and over, as the victims are deemed as "hero's", the San Francisco zoo has become an incompetent villain, all without a factual statement with which to actually conclude the "truth".
