1. Organic Steel Cut Oatmeal. Organic oatmeal is one of the most nutritious breakfasts you can choose from, and will give you plenty of healthy energy to get through the day. Steel cut oatmeal is only $0.50-$0.75 more than the average oatmeal brand, and offers a hearty and satisfying breakfast meal without sodium, sugar, and preservatives.
2. Organic Pasta. Some brands of organic whole wheat pasta are only $0.10-$0.20 more than generic store brands and other regular pasta on sale. Just stock up on your favorite penne in the organic food aisle for a healthy serving of whole grains.
3. Organic Tortilla Chips. These are often much cheaper than name brand potato chips and even other tortilla chips such as Tostitos. Organic tortilla chips are lower in sodium and can help you manage those crunchy-food cravings with ease.
4. Organic Beans. Canned organic beans such as vegetarian baked beans or lentils are easy to prepare and make for a satisfying meal. Organic beans are competitively priced with most common brands such as Heinz, and taste great too!
5. Organic Green Tea. When you're on the hunt for antioxidants, organic green tea is a healthy, super-charged drink you can enjoy any time of day. Brands such as Yogi and Stash aren't that much more expensive than other name brands, and you can buy them in bulk (try Amazon.com) to save even more.
6. Organic Soy Milk. Soy and rice milks are often cheaper than regular milk, and also last longer. Eliminating dairy from the diet does offer many health benefits, and soy milk is available in a variety of flavors if you need some variation. Another benefit of soy milk is the standard pricing; soy and rice milk prices aren't influenced by the constant changes of the dairy industry.
