Want to spend a weekend in a city full of fun things and brush up on your American history? Charleston, South Carolina is the perfect place to do both. Charleston offers several activities one could enjoy by themselves, with a romantic partner, or with friends or family. Most of the activities listed below are kid friendly. All of these activities are affordable so you can do several in one trip.

Charleston is full of historical houses and museums. Some are great finds, while other are just a waste of time and money. One of the best is the Nathaniel Russell House. It is a gorgeous house filled with a ton of historical treasure. You can find it on 51 Meeting Street. Admission cost is $10. There is a special deal to see this house and another historical house. You should check the website or place for more details. Two other museums that are noteworthy are the Charleston Museum and Heyward Washington House.

A great way to see the city and enjoy some exercise and fresh air is to rent a bike. Over the Bridge Self Bike Tours offer bike rentals and will help you map out a route so that you can tour the city all by themselves. A full day rental is $25 and a 3 hour rental is $15. Special bikes are available.

Charleston Waterfront Park is a beautiful park by the waterside. They have big porch swings for one to relax and enjoy the scenery. This would be the perfect place to have a picnic. The park is located on Concord Street.

Want a little scare and excitement? Charleston offers a spooky Haunted Jail Ghost tour for $16. This tour goes through a very old jailhouse and tells of some bone chilling people that use to live there. You can get a fright at 40 North Market Street.
