During December NASA was forced, yet again, to call off the launch of space shuttle Atlantis. It was cancelled after detecting problems with a pair of fuel gauges in its big external tank and not because of the holiday travel crush. Politics, politics, politics.
Financially-strapped homeowners might get some help from a plan put forth by the Bush administration to freeze interest rates on sub-prime mortgages that are scheduled to rise in the coming months. The President said, "We should not bail out lenders, real estate speculators or those made the reckless decision to buy a home they knew they could never afford. Because spending more than you make is a bad thing. You know, like we in the federal government do."
After rising in the polls, former Ark. Gov. Mike Huckabee suddenly started facing harsh new criticism for his involvement in freeing an imprisoned rapist who quickly went on to rape and kill again. Huckabee responded, "Can we all just pretend I'm not rising in the polls and ignore it like we have for years?"
With their population increasing, manatees of Florida could soon be moved off the endangered species list. Coincidently, Hillary's campaign could soon be moved onto the endangered list.
The Democratic Attorney General of Kansas was caught up in a sex scandal, admitting that he had a relationship with former staffer. Originally he was a Republican until he switched parties in 2005. Why did he switch parties? Because nobody cares about a sex scandal if you're a Democrat.
Oprah Winfrey is out on the campaign trail to support Barack Obama. Oprah, Obama; Obama, Oprah. I'm sorry, but doesn't that sound like a bad Letterman comedy bit?
Around the globe:
The number of American deaths in Iraq continued to drop during the month and that's good news. But to the Main Stream Media, no news is good news, and bad news travels fast so, don't expect to hear any good news from them about Iraq for a long while.
The Mexican Attorney General made claims that Cuban-Americans are smuggling of Cuban immigrants through Mexico into the United States and he's upset because the Cubans are hogging all the good illegal immigrant spots.
