Historical drama, courtroom farce, biblical text all come colliding together in "The Last Days of Judas Iscariot;" the hilarious play written by Stephen Adly Guirgis which was originally directed in New York at the Public Theatre's Martinson Theatre by none other than Philip Seymour Hoffman. Hoffman's LAByrinth Theatre Company originally asked the question, "If God is all forgiving then why is Judas condemned for betraying Jesus?"

This is an excellent position to ponder and the folks at 68 Cent Crew Theatre Company are ready to take the reins and see if they can recreate some of the theatrical magic of Hoffman and Guirgis in Los Angeles. The Last Days of Judas Iscariot is getting set to open up at Theatre 68 (5419 Sunset Blvd Suite D) in Los Angeles. This reinvention is directed by Robert Rothbard.

Judas was a big player in the story of Jesus and anyone who has any familiarity with the bible will be able to tell you that Judas was not very well thought of. Traitor, thief, rogue; Judas' role in history is leveled by a strong opinion but still shrouded in mystery. However there is one truth and that is that he is not very highly thought of in most circles.

For the play, Stephen Adly Guirgis has taken the story and thrown in back in our collective faces. "The Last Days of Judas Iscariot," is set in a time-bending, darkly comic world between Heaven and Hell, where agnostic lawyer Fabiana Aziza Cunningham has brought before the court The New Testament's most infamous and unexplained sinner - Judas Iscariot. Fabiana and her opposing prosecutor, Yusef El-Fayoumy, call on a cavalcade of witnesses from Sigmund Freud to Satan in this dark courtroom comedy

"The Last Days of Judas Iscariot" is the second stage collaboration with Ronnie Marmo, producer, and Robert Rothbard, Director. The first was the 68 Cent Crew's debut production, "What the Rabbi Saw" which earned critical acclaim starring Ronnie Marmo and Eva Longoria.
