Quick and Easy Decorating Ideas for Your Bedroom

Bedrooms are often the most neglected room in the house when it comes to decorating. Either homeowners run out of time or energy by the time the living room, dining room and kitchen are completed. Worse than that, parents often do the kid's rooms first and never get around to decorating their own. If you are in this category, here are some quick decorating ideas for your bedroom.

Bedding: The focal point of your bedroom is the bed, so you want to find bedding that you absolutely love. While luxurious bedding can cost a couple hundred dollars, you do not have to spend so much. You can purchase a less expensive bedding set and add trim to it found on sale at the craft store. In fact, you can update your existing bedding with a bit of trim or other embellishments. Do not forget to purchase or make coordinating window treatments.

Wall color: If your walls are boring, you can add color in a number of ways. You can pick a color from the bedding and have the paint store mix it for you. You can then paint an accent wall, the whole room, or perhaps the ceiling in that new color. Another thing you can do is to purchase extra window treatments to match your bedding and a curtain rod that spans an entire wall. Instead of painting, put up the window treatment across the entire wall, windows and all. This will be a great backdrop for your bed.

Headboard: The headboard is the crowned jewel of the room. If your bed is just on a frame without a headboard, you will want to get one immediately. You do not have to spend a fortune on your headboard; a bit of creativity will take you a long way. You can use fabric to slipcover and existing headboard or piece of plywood. You can also use salvage items such as an iron fence, carved door or floor screen as your headboard.
