Valentine's Day Crafts for Preschoolers

Valentines Day - Crafts for Kiddies

I love Valentines Day - it was one of my favorite holidays in school! From passing out valentines to doing crafts and playing games - I just loved Valentines Day! Here are several of the crafts I remember making as a child:

Heart or I Love you frame

Minimum Supplies:
Large Popsicle stick type tongue depressors - (4 per child plus a few extra for do-over's!)
White Glue
Foam hearts or letters to spell out "I Love You" (or other foam shapes)
1 picture of the child

Construction paper - pink or red or white is best

Optional Supplies:
Glitter
Paint
Crayons
Pompoms
Bits of material or yarn
Etc.

1) Take the picture of the child and glue it to the construction paper

2) Take the four craft sticks and glue them together to make a frame

3) Decorate the frame by painting it - gluing on pink poms poms - or foam hearts, writing I love you on it - let their imaginations go wild!

4) Once both are dry trim the picture to fit the frame and glue the picture to the back of the frame.

Note: to save drying time you may want to assemble the frames before hand using a glue gun and have the pictures already glued to the construction paper.

Heart Valentines Holder

Minimum Supplies:
Hole punch (you may want several for a large number of children)
Two paper plates per child
Red or pink yarn
Crayons
Scissors

Optional supplies:
Glue
Glitter
Paint
Pompoms
Foam shapes
Stickers
Etc.

1) Take one of the two plates and draw a huge heart making sure that the left and right side touch the edges of the plates.

2) Cut out just the top part of the heart - the part where the two bumps are - on the one plate.

3) Put the whole plate behind the heart one so that they make a sort of clam shell - there should be a space between them to drop the valentines in.

4) Take the hole punch and punch holes along he edge where the two plates touch.

5) Give each child yarn and have them thread the yarn through the holes to "sew" the two plates together.

6) Aside from putting their name on them, have them use whatever supplies you have on hand to decorate them!

7) Hang on the back of their chair with yarn while they all take turns delivering their valentines.
