8 Reasons Not to Buy an Art Carved Class Ring

You're Going to Be Tempted, but Please Pass that Table in the Atrium Right Up

Okay, I'll readily admit that I purchased a class ring from an Art Carved representative who showed up at my law school six or seven years ago.  But it was right before my Evidence final exam, and I was terribly drunk.  I wore the ring for two weeks right after graduation,
and it's been sitting in my drawer ever since.  Here are eight reasons not to buy an Art Carved (now also called "Balfour") Class Ring.

1.  They look silly.  I'm sure people will have differing opinions on this, but I think the general consensus is pretty clear.  They're generally gaudy and they go with nothing.  Not to mention, they're pretty far from cool.  I mean, can you picture your coolest movie heroes, like say Clint Eastwood or Jack Nicholson running around with a class ring?  Probably not.

2.  They're fairly expensive, especially for someone just graduating from school.  I purchased a 14K white gold ring with an onyx stone for $900.  That's cash I could've used to buy myself a good suit for court appearances, or even used as beer money.  Okay, so your parents may be shelling out the dough for yours.  Still, I can think of a thousand other things I would've wanted to be handed on graduation day.

3.  Let's face it, graduating from high school, college or even medical school just isn't as big a deal as it once was.  For instance, almost any idiot with the time and money to spend on education can graduate from law school.  If you don't believe me, I have over three hundred names and photographs to show you from my law school yearbook.

You didn't have to buy the white gold, show off. Who says class rings don't look badass sometimes? Guess it depends on your style (or lack of). You just gotta know how to wear it man.

I guess you forgot the first priciple in business, which is never do business while drunk. Moreover, you provided no convincing arguments that could reasonably support and/or pursuade any ordinary reader as to why it might not be a good idea to buy and wear a law school class ring. Whatever, dude!!!

First of all, what kind of name is "Jack Oceano"?....sounds like this Dude just made up this name!...this guy is full of you-know-what to be posting "8 reasons not to buy an Artcarved class ring"....I guess he doesn't have nothing better to do than knocking class rings!!....to me, it sounds like this nitwit has buyer's remorse!!...Look, I bought myself an Artcarved High School ring in 14K gold when I graduated back in 1985 and I still wear it!...I paid $500 for it back then and it is one of the most high quality gold rings that I have purchased!!....I wear it with pride and I sure don't regret buying it!!...there's other class ring companies out there like Josten's and such, but I would highly recommend Artcarved (or Art Carved) to anyone looking to buy their High School or College ring simply because of their outstanding quality....enough said!!

I got my grad ring the year before I graduated (2001) It hasnt left my finger since. I am proud of my ring and to me it represents how far I come. I am glad I bought it and never regreted it. It may be a $500 ring but i worked hard and long to get it. Art Carved did a fine job.

Regarding observation #1 .... A lot of guys wear a class or signet ring. Sure, they're not in the majority, but they are still very common. Heck, I wouldn't mind wearing one, except I refuse to pay hundreds of dollars for jewelry -- they provide me no function that is worth that amount of money, IMHO. If one can get a class ring for, like, $25, I might consider getting one. ;)

Randy 2/8/07 Beware of ART Carved repair service! I bought my ring through John Roberts which was bought out by ART CARVED. My ring came with a lifetime guarantee on the stone. Being a cut stone it did chip and looked rough. So I sent my ring in to ART CARVED to get the stone replaced. Soon afterwards I received a letter saying my ring would have to be remade to replace the stone and for $50.00 this could be done. I sent them the money and anxiously awaited the arrival of my new class ring. Boy was I shocked! Immediately out of the package I could tell something was not right. The ring seemed a whole lot lighter than the 23 pennyweight ring I sent in. Well guess what, it was. I took it to my local jeweler, had it weighed and my 23 pennyweight ring had mysteriously turned into a 20 pennyweight ring. Immediately I recalled paying extra for 23 pw vs a 20 pw college class ring. I called ART CARVED and question this change in weight and I was told it lost 3 pw in the remaking process or 13%
