Valentine's Day Gift Ideas for New Moms

Valentine's Day is a special day to celebrate with your significant other. The first Valentine's Day a couple spends together as parents is an extra special one. Here are some great Valentine's Day gift ideas for a new mom.

Consider the baby's name. Does you baby's name have some sort of significance that could be turned into a thoughtful Valentine's Day gift? Research the meaning and origins of your child's name (if you haven't done so already) to determine if an appropriate gift could be given in honor of your baby's name. For instance, Jasper and Ruby make for great jewelry gifts whereas Daisy and Rose are perfect for fresh flowers. Personalized items with your child's name or a special piece of mother's jewelry with your baby's birthstone would also be very special.

The spa is perfect. Any woman who has become a mother for the first time in the past year could use a trip to the spa for a Valentine's Day gift. Just to have a few hours alone to be pampered and to relax is an incredible gift for any new mom. Consider purchasing a spa gift certificate or choose specific services such as a facial, a pedicure, or an hour long full body massage.

A night out. Depending on just how new the new mom is, this may or may not be a good idea. If the baby was born a few months prior to Valentine's Day, a night out would be a great gift for a new mom. Watch the baby for a couple hours or so to allow her to get all fixed up and ready for the "date." Ask a friend or relative you trust to watch the baby so you won't be worried about him all evening (you might need to schedule your date on night other than actual Valentine's Day). Then go out to a nice dinner and whatever other activities you enjoy doing together as a couple.
